Level 1 Coaching Course - Junior Development Camp

Coaches wishing to obtain Wrestling Australia Level 1 Coaching Accreditation are invited to attend the upcoming 'Junior Development Camp', hosted at the Australian Institute of Sport, Canberra.

Successful completion of the theoretical and practical components of this course will result in a Level 1 accreditation. This accreditation will be valid for 3 years from the date of completion.

Participants will also be required to submit the relevant documentation before the commencement of the course. These requirements can be found here, and can be uploaded during registration for this event.

A signed copy of the Wrestling Australia Concussion Policy will need to be submitted as part of these requirements. This can be found here.

Lead Educator

The educational lead for this course will be Andrey Vorontsov (UWW Coaching Educator and Course Developer). 

Pre-Requirements

Participants will also be required to submit the relevant documentation at registration.  These requirements can be found here and are outlines below:

Valid Working with Children Check 

Valid Police Check 

Valid First Aid Certificate

Sports Integrity Australia On-Line Eucation Certificate 

Certificate of Completion: WRESTLING 101: INTRODUCTION TO THE SPORT

Cost

Various costs will be associated with attendance at this course. These are listed below:

Coaching Accreditation Fee (3 Years) = $300

Onsite AIS accommodation (inclusive of 4 nights accommodation, all meals, facilty hire fees) = $650

Offsite attendance (inclusive of all meals, facility hire fees) = $450 (For discount code, please email kyle.weekes@combataus.com.au

Fees will be accumulated and charged as one total sum at checkout.

All attendees at the AIS must complete the AIS attendance form. This can be found here and must be completed by April 2nd

What does the course cover?

The Level 1 Coaching Course will cover various theoretical and practical components over the space of 5 days. Coaches will complete practical training hours of the course by leading and assisting sessions throughout the Junior Development Camp.

Theoretical components will cover a range of content specific to coaching practices and wrestling specifics. Some of the areas covered during this course will be:

  • Safety and Risk Management
  • Session planning
  • Session review
  • Roles of the coach
  • Wrestling Games
  • Wrestling fundamentals
  • Communication
  • Practical workshops

What to bring

You will be required to bring a personal laptop to use during theoretical components of the course. Please bring suitable clothing to conduct practical sessions both indoors and outdoors.
