Wrestling Australia wishes to inform the Wrestling community of the death of William Davies.
William Maurice Davies, Olympic Freestyle Wrestler, competed in the Olympic Games in Melbourne in 1956.
William was born and raised in Collingwood VIC. He started competing in the sport of Wrestling as an after school sport at the of 15 years at Police Boys Clubs, including the Glebe Police Boys Club.
William joined the Royal Australian Navy at the age of 21, remaining with the Navy until he retired.
After leaving the Navy William retired in Sydney and more recently moved to Burleigh Heads in Queensland.
William passed away on 14 August this year at 89 years of age.
