South Australia State Championships/Apex Freestyle Wrestling Cup

Event Information

As part of Diamonondback FC’s APEX Sports Fest, Wrestling SA will be running the Apex Freestyle Wrestling Cup. This will be open to all ages, from kids to adults, under standard Olympic Wrestling Freestyle rules. It will also constitute our State Titles. This event was originally scheduled for November 28, 2020, but had to be rescheduled due to COVID restrictions.

The competition will be conducted in accordance with UWW Rules; the draw will use a modified pairing system. A standard 12x12m wrestling mat will be used, but it will be set up outdoors, protected from sun and rain by a pavilion overhead. Weigh in will be on the morning of the event. Weight categories for seniors are set to current Olympic Rules. For youth weight categories click  here. All competitors must make weight within these categories.

Note that all SA Health guidelines will be strictly followed to keep the event COVID-safe. COVID Marshals will be patrolling all areas advising spectators on social distancing and hygiene. To ensure contact tracing requirements are met, registrations and spectator ticket purchases are expected to be made online.

Event registration closes the day before the event, with a $10 late fee applied two days earlier (after Wednesday). Registration costs are as follows (including event entry):

• General public, over 18 – $70
• Wrestling SA members, over 18 – $40 (log in and use discount code ApexWSA)
• General public, under 18 – $50 (use discount code ApexMINOR)
• Wrestling SA members, under 18 – $20 (log in and use discount code ApexWSAMINOR)
• General entry for spectators at the APEX Sports Fest is $65 for adults and $35 for juniors, purchased from the promoters, Diamondback FC. Click here to purchase online.
• A $30 discount on spectator tickets is available for guardians of junior competitors (competitor must be a member of Wrestling SA). Guardians will be contacted with further details after registering.
