First Nations Liaison Officer

Wrestling Australia is happy to announce that Stephan Jaeggi has been appointed as the Wrestling Australia First Nations Liaison Officer.  See below for a message from Stephan:

My name is Stephan Jaeggi. I have been involved in Wrestling for over 30 years , representing Australia on numerous occasions as an Athlete , Coaching for 20 years and as an official for 10 years.  I was coached by John Kinsela, the First Aboriginal to represent Australia at Olympic Games, in Wrestling, in my younger years. My heritage is Swiss and Aboriginal. My father migrated to Australia in the 1960’s from Switzerland and my Mother is of Bundjulung and Yuin Heritage.  She was the first Mundine to migrate to Redfern in 1958 from the NSW North Coast.
Wrestling has a big Cultural connection with Aboriginal Australia, especially on the North Coast in Bundjulung Country.
I’m very excited and privileged to be able to work towards increasing Aboriginal participation in Wrestling and developing Traditional Aboriginal Wrestling.

If you would like to know more, or you have ideas to share, or you would like to help in this endeavour in some way, then I would be pleased if you contacted me by sending an email to: first.nations@wrestling.com.au
